Management of diabetes continues to be a big problem for most of us. Diabetes and metabolic condition that results when our food elements including fat, protein, and carbohydrates continue to be out of control. We have a tendency to enjoy eating foods that are conducive to poor metabolic control. Sometimes this metabolic control leads to development of diabetes. There are several different terms that are included in this dysfunction. Glucose levels have a tendency to be high. Weight has a tendency to be elevated. Our desire for certain foods and their habits of eating certain foods frequently leads to the metabolic syndrome or prediabetes. Not everyone with prediabetes goes on to develop diabetes. It is possible to make changes in our habits that decreases the chance of developing diabetes. If we maintain our weight at a healthy level and we maintain an adequate emphasis on daily exercise then we will have less likelihood of forming diabetes
It is understandable and natural that certain food elements are utilized heavily even though they do increase the frequency of diabetes. We enjoy foods that we have been taught to like and find these foods hard to eliminate or minimize in our daily dietary habits. Another reason for this difficulty is that inexpensive foods have a tendency to be high in carbohydrate instead of high in protein and low in carbohydrate. We have been taught that fruits and vegetables are helpful. That is a true statement, but certain fruits have a high sugar content and are therefore not healthy from control mechanisms. In addition to selection of healthy foods we must be careful of our portion size. If we put too much food on our plate we are more likely to develop diabetes. Careful management of the amount of food that we eat is an important technique for prevention of diabetes.
Another thing that comes up frequently is the lack of adequate exercise. We are urged to exercise at least 150 minutes each week. That exercise should be vigorous and should result in having a rapid heartbeat and in profuse sweating. Rapid walking, jogging, bicycle riding, and playing vigorous sports each contribute a lot toward control of diabetes or prevention of diabetes.
